KILONGA - Help for the children

Our mission

We want to protect the basic rights of Madagascar's children, provide clean drinking water, enough food, education for everyone and new opportunities.

The island of Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world. The national income per capita is only about 340€ per year. Madagascar is thus in 189th place in a global comparison, with Germany in 21st place with a GNI per capita of €43,500. More than 80% of Madagascar’s population is affected by extreme poverty, and more than 30% are malnourished. Life expectancy is 65 years (Germany: 81 years). About 35% of all children do not complete elementary school and especially children with disabilities.
Only about 46% of the population has access to safe drinking water, which is one of the reasons why the mortality rate for children under 5 is 6.2%; 50% of those under 5 suffer from temporary or chronic malnutrition.
The situation is critical. Due to the difficult political situation, more and more aid programs are withdrawing from the country.

Help us now to give the children of Madagascar a better future!

Our organization

“KILONGA: Help for the children in Madagascar e.V.” is an association registered in the Register of Associations of the District Court of Munich, which aims to improve the living conditions of the children of Madagascar. The idea for this association goes back to our founding member, the artist David Hardy, dit le Suisse Marocain, who has been living and working on the island of Madagascar for several months a year for many years. David Hardy is supported in his work by two other board members, his school friend Thomas Mittendorf, who works as a lawyer, his sister Bettina Hardy, who works in the care of the severely disabled, and other volunteers.
